Tata Tea Museum - Journey of a tea leaf to tea dust
Tea plantations are an integral part of Munnar and they have helped in attracting a large number of tourists to this area. Ideal climatic conditions in Munnar help in the growth of the tea plant. Our next stop after Echopoint, was Tata tea museum where we saw the journey of a tea leaf from the plant to a tea cup. If you are a tea lover you should definitely stop by to savour the different flavours of tea sold. We both are extreme tea lovers and there's nothing more soothing than a cup of hot tea in the morning.
This tea museum is situated in Nallathanni estate of Tata tea at a distance of 12 km from Munnar town. One can observe the history of tea production here. The stages of tea processing can be seen and there are workers who describe the process so that we understand properly. They have also shown the development from the old machinery to the now fully automated tea factory.
The aroma of tea leaves drying fills the air and is quite pleasant. It is a different experience and you learn the value of the tea dust you use in your tea. at the end of the tour there is a factory outlet where you can buy different types of tea at factory rates.
