Buttermilk waterfalls or Jhari falls is a beautiful waterfall hidden deep in the forest near Attigundi near Chikmagalur. It is just 12 km from Baba Budangiri and 23 km from Chikmagalur town. The fall is located inside and far from the vehicle parking. The road to this place is treacherous and you are not allowed to take your vehicles due to the steep, sharp turns on the rough road. The only way to reach this place is to hire a jeep and there are many people offering this off-road ride at a heavy price. We can hire a vehicle for 600 rupees and it can seat 6 passengers. The jeep drivers were rash and the ride was nothing short of a roller coaster ride. Traversing through the bumps and muddy ditches were not a small deal and we had a couple of bruises after the ride.
Butter Milk Water Falls
There is a small pool at the bottom of the falls where you can splash and bath if you wish. Water is cool and relaxing for both kids and adults. But beware of the slippery rocks when you tread on them. The falls are awesome to see during the monsoon season when there is a lot of water.
