We made a sudden plan to spend our anniversary weekend at Chikmagalur. We started our hotel search in Trivago and we were getting quite disappointed with the results. All the good ones were fully booked and we badly needed a place to stay for the Saturday night. Finally we came across a homestay. Review was quite good and rates were pretty much okay. They offered rooms as well as bungalow. We were lucky enough to get a booking in the bungalow. So finally stay was all set and we were ready for the trip. We had opted for a one night stay and food was included. Check-in time was at 12pm on Saturday. Main highlight of this place was its accessibility and was tucked away from the town. Many of the tourist spots were within 20 to 30km and this was an added advantage. Just 500m away from the main road this place was almost like a farm house. The hosts were quite friendly and made us at home.
Bungalow in Mountain Valley
The bungalow had perfect wood finish and was tastefully done. The rooms were spacious and clean. Room service was also available but they encouraged all guests to have dinner with them. Dining area was set outdoor but it didn’t appeal to me much, as there were a lot of insects. Other than that there were extra facilities provided like camp fire, badminton court, carom board, mini pet zoo with rabbits, birds etc.

We were supposed to pay for the stay in cash but we travelled in November after the demonetization and were in short of cash. Our hosts were quite understanding and they agreed for neft payment hence we could save our cash for other things. Please note that they didn’t have a swiping machine. Food had a homely touch and was nice. All in all we loved the homestay experience and would suggest everyone to try it out for once.
